Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom. – Colossians 3:16
I prayed this verse for you this morning. I prayed that you would dwell in the Word personally – and that your time in the Word, would be rich, full of depth, and bearing fruit in your life. Pray for me as my alarm goes off at 6:00 am that I would long to meet with my Creator before the house begins to stir for day. And the concept of dwelling is rich with meaning, too. Not only do we need to dwell in the Word, but we need to allow the Word to dwell in us throughout the day. As we care for other’s spiritual health, let’s be sure that we are caring for ourselves.
And as the Word of Christ is dwelling in us it will naturally come out in our ministry with others. Not only should the Word be on the tip of our tongue as we lead our Small Group lessons, but it should be on the tip of our tongue during our snack time conversations and in our prayers with people. The next time you meet with your Small Group (or talk with a member on the phone) see if you can bring a word from the Word to them. Seriously. Try it. Think intentionally about “how can I share something from the Word with this person.” You’ll soon discover a new depth to your ministry.
But we have nothing to withdraw from if we are not regularly depositing God’s Word in our hearts and allowing it to first dwell in us.
I am aware of many people at Harvest within our Small Groups that have recently lost jobs. Know that my heart aches (honestly), that I care, and that am praying fervently. Thanks for the many ways you are rallying around people and being the body of Christ by loving people in their need.
