Simon, son of John, do you love me? – John 21
If you think of me this weekend, I would covet your prayers. In a few hours I will depart from O’Hare to join friends from our six or seven Harvest churches in Canada. I will be speaking at the annual high school retreat. I have spoken in this setting before and I look forward to reuniting with people and sharing God’s Word with these students.
As I have spent extended time in prayer and in God’s Word preparing a new series. I have been overwhelmed by the deep love that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords has for me. I’m so fired up. I could go on and on, but let me summarize it in this way: My prayer for this weekend is for students to discover in a fresh way the pursuing love of Jesus through the experiences of Peter. Peter was an unschooled, ordinary guy – yet Jesus offered him something worth living for. He gave him purpose and a new identity. No doubt, Peter made his share of mistakes. But at the end of the day, it was Jesus who was standing on the shore pursuing Peter. Peter was so overwhelmed by Jesus’ deep love for him that he could help by love in return. I hope that students will discover in fresh way the deep love that Jesus has for them – and then authentically love Jesus in return.
It’s a cool thing when you can share something that is coming from straight from your heart. What has God been teaching you recently in the Word? Have you shared what you’re leaning with others?
May you know the breadth, length, height, and depth of the love that Jesus has for you … today! :)
